Spooky Season Takes Flight from ACY

New Breeze Airways flights to Vero Beach, Fort Myers, and Myrtle Beach arrive just in time for Halloween

Egg Harbor Township, NJ, October 2, 2026 — Spooky season doesn’t have to come with sweater weather.

This October, travelers can head south for haunted trails, ghost stories, Halloween celebrations, and a little beach time, too. New Breeze Airways flights from Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) to Vero Beach begin October 2, followed by Fort Myers and Myrtle Beach on October 22, giving travelers more options for a warm-weather Halloween getaway.

The Spooky Side of Vero Beach

Vero Beach is known for its beaches, but October brings out a different side of Florida’s Treasure Coast.

On October 17, the historic Waldo’s Secret Garden hosts A Haunted Garden Evening. The nearly century-old property comes with its share of local ghost stories, and visitors can explore the grounds after dark while learning more about its history.

A week later, the Sebastian Scream 5K & Haunted Rail Trail takes place on October 24. The evening includes a sunset 5K, costume contest, trunk or treat, poolside movie, and a haunted trail after dark. Race proceeds support mental health programs for local police, fire, and EMS personnel.

Vero Beach Oktoberfest also returns October 16-18 at the Indian River County Fairgrounds with live music, German food, and a beer garden.

With ACY flights beginning October 2, travelers can catch nearly a full month of fall events in Vero Beach.

Sunshine and Scares in Myrtle Beach

Fright Nights takes over downtown Myrtle Beach for five weekends through November 1, bringing roaming characters, live entertainment, themed performances, and weekend activities to the oceanfront.

ACY service begins October 22, just ahead of a packed Halloween weekend. BooFest! at Barefoot Landing is set for October 24 with costume contests and Halloween activities, followed by an outdoor screening of Hocus Pocus.

Travelers staying through October 31 can also head south to Murrells Inlet for the annual Halloween celebration on the MarshWalk, where waterfront restaurants join in with costumes and Halloween specials.

Myrtle Beach also has several haunted attractions and ghost tours for travelers looking for something a little scarier.

Frights in Fort Myers

One of Fort Myers’ longstanding Halloween traditions takes place at the Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium, where its annual Haunted Walk transforms the center’s wooded trails after dark. The event runs every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through October 31, with characters and scares hidden throughout the outdoor trail.

Local farms host pumpkin patches and seasonal activities, Lake Park fills with decorated scarecrows, and downtown ghost tours dig into some of Fort Myers’ more unsettling history.

Visit Fort Myers has more fall events and trip ideas for travelers planning an October visit.

Flights from ACY to Fort Myers begin October 22, leaving plenty of time to catch the final weekends of Halloween festivities.

Halloween Down South

October doesn’t have to mean putting away the beach bag.

With new flights to Vero Beach beginning October 2 and Fort Myers and Myrtle Beach beginning October 22, ACY travelers have three new routes to plan a fall getaway.
